Manchester City Crash Out of the Champions League

After losing to Real Madrid 6-3 over two legs yesterday, Manchester City was eliminated from the Champions League. It took a late goal to give Real Madrid a slim lead heading into yesterday's second leg, 3-2, in an evenly contested match played at Manchester's Etihad Stadium last week. But Kylian Mbappe scored an incredible hat-trick to eliminate Man City from the competition last night at the Bernabau Stadium in Madrid, completely outplaying City.

Manchester City looked spineless in attack without their talisman Erling Haaland who despite still recovering from an injury, was on the City bench. Things turned sour pretty quickly as Mbappe scored the first of three only minutes after kick-off; and things got worse for Pep Guardiola when experienced defender John Stones had to be substituted after injuring himself.

This season's Champions League was reorganized, forcing a number of well-known teams to advance to the next round through two-leg play-off matches. It was surprising to learn that Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Juventus, AC Milan, and Atalanta were all involved. The fact that only Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and PSG advanced is even more unexpected. All of the Champions League games were streamed live.
